Pouākai Hut, Mount Taranaki

DK Roofing Limited is proud to be part of the $16.8 million Pouakai Hut redevelopment, delivering a new 16-bunk facility located below the junction of the Mangorei and Pouakai Range on Mount Taranaki.

The project forms part of the wider Taranaki Crossing initiative, delivered in partnership with Department of Conservation, Ngã Iwi o Taranaki, and Kanoa – Regional Economic Development & Investment Unit, and supported by Egmont Property & Inspection Services.

The new hut has been designed as a fit-for-purpose facility to support increasing visitor demand while also incorporating cultural narrative into its design, enhancing the visitor experience and connection to the whenua.

DK Roofing Limited’s scope included the supply and installation of metal roofing systems, wall cladding, and rainwater goods. The works required careful coordination due to the remote alpine environment, weather exposure, and logistical constraints associated with the site.

Through planned delivery, safe execution, and quality-focused installation, DK Roofing contributed to a key regional project that supports tourism, cultural engagement, and long-term economic development within the Taranaki region.
